A Visit to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds - Museum Style!
I had never been to the minnesota state fair before, and I think the last time I went to a state fair was long ago when I lived in Iowa.
Since there is a fairgrounds district in Gnar World, I decided to attend the fair one day this year and see if i could grab some visuals from the scene there to bring into my video game.
The first thing I noticed were these iconic Food stands.

Arn't they hilarious looking? they are one crocotile session away from being in Gnar World.

You see some of the most disgusting people at the state fair, and all of the food they are serving is beyond-unhealthy for you. One of the foods that i saw for sale were deep fried oreo pop tarts.
The main reason i am sharing this is because the fair contained competition results for pretty much anything! You could bring in your house plant and have it compete with other people's house plants lol.
Look at the bakery section. This to me, looked like something from a museum, some kind of contemporary art piece.

Tons of different versions of the same, and different, types of bread. Each labeled from the person who made it.
Cookies were decorated and on display:

Cupcakes and brownies were all on display behind a large piece of glass in a refrigerated container for all eyes to see.

i really had never seen anything like this before. And while it is perhaps the opposite of fine art, i found funny similarities. Actually, there was an art gallery there, featuring paintings from people who submitted work from all around.
i don't have photos of that because it was rather unimpressive, but the foot traffic that went through it was insane!

Look at all the different Maple Syrups that were produced by different people. All the different hues and tints of maple syrup made me interested in what made them taste different.

different tinctures and oils
Check out the blue-ribbon winning rocking chair.
this thing looks like it rocks
I mean look at the woodworking craftsmanship on that. its probably super comfortable to sit in too.
house plants
There was a botanical room full of plants people thought were "the best in the state" haha, this idea to me, seemed to funny. I like houseplants and think mine are cool but i would never think to bring one to the fair and show it off. maybe now i will.IMG_4158.JPG
even foraged finds were on display:

This one i wanted to make note of because i wanted to grow one myself. i like how the leaf looks like a heart.
Genus: Apocynaceae, Species: Hoya

This one has brilliant red flowers

Some spectacular pepper plants were on display as well

and last but not least...
The Pumpkins
IMG_4172.JPG
you had to pay to get up close to all the farm vegetables but i was able to see them just fine from outside.
big ol pumpkins
there were animals too. kinda weird to see a conscious being on display like that as a kind of product.

The animals didnt seem too stoked but, they also didnt seem too bummed either.

The Motors
My favorite thing I saw were the old engines.

These things were so cool. I recorded some video of them.
These were the objects that most seemed like they belong in a museum. the fact that they were running is what was super cool. Since the state fair is only a set number of days, these were running only on certain days so I was psyched to see them.

Well, thats all for the state fair. I will probably go again, its a pretty fun thing to do, to see all the stuff. the Midway is garbage though, i bet back-in-the-day it used to be cool but now all the prizes are the same stuffed animal crapola.
